I have always been interested in photography since my dad bought his first DSLR camera back when I was in elementary school, but I had only picked up this habit since the first years of university, of just taking a moment to take pictures of what I am seeing, not to be posted in my social media, not to be shared with friends – I do it egoistically only for myself. Hence, my subjects are usually empty spaces, small details, or of my friends - it shows how I perceive the world, through my eyes.
Being able to stop and digest what is happening in my surroundings disassociates me from the world: I would find beauty in places that will otherwise be forgotten, in the gazes and laughs of my friends when we are together, in the empty chairs of the churches that I am visiting, in the small smiley faces of a fence in my friend’s hometown, on the roofs of buildings when I look up to the sky of an Italian city centres, or on the table in the dining room where the dusk light casts warm shadows. My photography is my personal and visual diary of my life – there are not enough words to explain what I appreciate in the world filled with wonders, but pictures might take me to the same place, at the same time, and of the same feelings.
